Dentist!

Today we have been to the Dentist, I absolutely hate going. At least the appointment was 9:30 so not long to wait after getting up and ready.  It was just a routine 6 month check up but I knew I would need further treatment.  Last year I had a filling and its never been right, then a couple if months ago I developed an abcess, boy was that painful! Once the abcess cleared, with the help of antibiotics it still left a problem with the tooth, anyway after lots of poking and prodding I had an xray and it turns out its a chronic infection, there are 2 choices of treatment, its either root canal filling which may or may not work, or an extraction, I have 4 weeks to decide :-(. I think .i'm going for extraction, its a single molar which is more filling than tooth and at least it gets rid of the problem totally.  I am very nervous about having it done as it will leave a gap but you wont see it when I smile as its too far back.  I haven' t had a tooth out since I was a child!!  My Dentist has given me a prescription for some more antibiotics if I need them while on holiday, she is of the opinion it could flare up again anytime so better to be prepared.  Apart from that my teeth are ok.  Hubby was in and out in a flash...perfect teeth....for now!

This afternoon I went to Mum and Dads they needed the freezer defrosting and cleaning out, it only took an hour and everything was put back tidy so they can see what they have. Good job done!!

Grandaughter has been with her school report, its excellent!  She has worked so hard this year, its her last week at primary school.....shock....horror....where did those years go, it doesnt seem 2 minutes since she started school!  Once she gets to comp in September I think she will start to blossom into a young lady...no boyfriends though....not until they pass the grandparents test...lol

Nothing else to report today so I will leave you with a picture of the Hollyhock thats flowering in front of the garage wall.

Back tomorrow
Take care

  2. The hollyhock is beautiful. Well done to Willow on her glowing report.
I feel your pain with the dentist. I went for my check-up last week - I've broken yet another piece of tooth apparently so will need another filling. Back next Friday to have that done and some xrays :(

    1. Thank you Scarlet, I love your new picture :-)

The Dentist!! I have never liked going, I get very anxious before hand and my dentist is lovely, very young and very chatty and does put you at ease, but Its still a pain going! I hope your filling does the job and they can save your broken tooth. xx

  3. I know your dentist pain. The tooth I had pulled yesterday had root canal done a few years ago, it was never right and constantly had an abscess behind it. I would go for an extraction to save faffing about.

  4. Hope you are feeling better today and thank you for your comment, I feel it will be the right thing to do, hubby had a root canal filling and it didnt work so that put me off a bit too, still not looking forward to having it done but at least that will be it!! xx

  5. Have it out Karen. I have had two teeth out, one top, one bottom. I have small teeth that are perfectly straight but just seem to be a bit weak! It doesn't hurt at all and I am petrified of the dentist and only go when in extreme pain. You do find little bits of tooth come poking out of the hole for a long time afterwards. I had a bit four years later! How lovely but worth doing. X

    1. Thanks Sarah, good to know I'm not the only wuss! Lol. I just wish she could have done it there and then, instead I have to wait until 18th august to tell her my decision and then make an appointment to have the treatment! Just prolonging the inevitable :-( xx

  6. I went to have my filling checked after munching it with a sweet! A mini top filling was needed, no pain, no drilling, cost £30.75p!

    1. Expensive sweet! Mine is £50:05 minus the £18:50 paid yesterday but the prescription is free if I need to cash it.

  8. I know that the pain from extractions can be hard to swallow, but since it's a molar, you can rest easy that it shouldn't be that noticeable. Root canals can be too painful and most people would rather get rid of the problem completely by extraction if it isn't a front tooth. Just be calm on your next appointment, and better bring someone with you, if you're too nervous to go through with it. Good luck with whichever procedure you choose!

  9. It looks like your hubby was better than you on the dental department. Haha! Kidding aside, it’s nice to know that you still visit your dentist regularly, despite hating the experience. Anyway, that hollyhock looks wonderful. I hope it’s still doing well. Thanks for sharing!
