Its been our Thimbles group meeting today and last week we were given homework :-) one of our quilting ladies is putting together a quilt from the group for the village Christmas Fair to use as a raffle prize. We were all asked to take some home to put together and bring them back this week, I panicked a bit when she said we were doing Japanese Folded Patchwork, but once we had been shown how to do it it wasn't so bad, they must have been ok because she asked if I would do another 6 for next week. The thick wadding is already inside them and they are quite puffy, I wouldn't want the job of sewing them all together. At least this is something done by hand while watching tv.
Japanese Folded Patchwork
Not perfect but my first attempt!!
Take Care

How lovely Karen, I do hand pieced patchwork, but have never done these; maybe when I have some spare time I will research it, I am sure there are some videos online! They will look fantastic made up into a quilt - can you take a photo and post when it is all done? How lovely to have a group project, I would love to join a craft group, but we are never settled in a place long enough (even when we are we are working so have no time) - roll on retirement!! Definitely the weather for crafting by the fire at present. Xx
ReplyDeleteAlison I will try and do step by step photos of the next lot, everything is done by hand you just need an iron.
DeleteThat would be right up my street, have scraps, iron and hopefully will not be working so much after the middle of December!
DeleteWhat a fantastic raffle prize that will be. Very christmassy
ReplyDeleteI hope they sell lots of tickets, its cost about £35 for materials!!
DeleteI think they look great Karen, they always look really complicated to do.
ReplyDeleteWhen I first saw it it looked really complicated but once shown how to do it and after seeing one ready made up it became easy to understand.
DeleteLovely, Karen, and once you are into your stride with them I bet they are quite soothing to stitch in front of the tv. And heigh-ho - some one else has the job of sewing it all together - good for her!!! Lx
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful x
