I have my new pot ready for the new year......something I made earlier today...
A recycled Lidl yogurt bucket covered in sticky backed plastic, in true Blue Peter style :-) the lid has been glued down and well sealed, it won't be opened again until new years eve 2015. I like the idea of recycling these little buckets as you get to eat the yummy yogurt first :-)
Are you doing the Sealed Pot Challenge, if so what kind of pot do you use?
Back again tomorrow
Take care

Great idea. I shall be using one of those money box tins you can get from the £ shop and trying to fill it with £2 coins. It funded a trip to London for us this year :)
ReplyDeleteAh, so you had all the £2 in circulation lol. I usually start iff with plenty £2 then they are hard to get! So we were down to bits of change. I know we wont have done as well this year but every bit helps. Xx
DeleteBrilliant idea, I am definitely doing one for 2015. Will have to fashion something.
ReplyDeleteTwiggy.
Our last 3 tins have been from B&M but this year I'm avoiding the shops. Anything will do as long as its sealed well :-)
DeleteA great idea, I will start one this year .
ReplyDeleteThank you, it's good to have you on board, you will be amazed at how bits soon mount up. Good luck.
DeleteI 'stole' a catering sized coffee container from work. Haven't covered it though, that's a good idea xxx
ReplyDeleteExcellent Fran, you're obviously going to save loads with a bigger tin :-) hope you had a lovely Christmas xx
DeleteGreat idea! Santa bought me two sealed pots...........I think he knows me well lol x
ReplyDeleteGreedy :-) hubby has been told not to dare spend £2 coins this year or put pennies in the pot, they go into the penny jar for the kids! Lol. Hope you have a great 2015 xxx
DeleteI'm going to have one, I think it will be using a sweetie tin I have in the back of the cupboard. Going to put my left over grocery budget money in at the end of each month.Happy New Year. Tx
ReplyDeleteSweetie tins are a great idea. I had thought about my grocery budget and maybe everytime I use a coupon putting the value into the tin, do you think thats a tad extreme :-) Have a brilliant New Year x
DeleteI use a tin that a 'Pug' ornament came in. I had a real struggle to get into it when I opened it a couple of weeks ago but I've managed to patch it up well enough for it to last for another year.
ReplyDeleteLove your 'Blue Peter' style covered bucket, what a brilliant idea.
Sue, you always do really well with your Sealed Pots and I love the challenge you did at the beginning of the year.
DeleteI always yearned for a Blue Peter Badge when I was a child :-)
Snap!! I sent in so many things to try and earn one ... but no luck 😒
DeleteMy 2015 tin is The Mr. Men!!! I am opening my 2014 haul on New Years Day. I have also collected £2 coins since I read about the Sealed Pot on New Life in the Country blog several years ago. I have collected 50p's for years and I now cannot physically pay for anything with a £2 or 50p coin!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Rabbitquilter, Thank you so much for commenting. Oooh I wonder how much you will have in your pot, its quite exciting isn't it. I never spend a £2 coin either, they get tucked into the compartment in the middle of my purse until I get home and pop them into the tin. Hope you get a nice surprise.
DeleteI used a gravy tin last year, but ended up with overflow going into OH's big bottle. Maybe a whisky box? I'll have to think!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great username! Thank you for popping by. A gravy tin..brilliant..it just shows how resourceful we can be. I love recycling. I hope you have a great 2015.
ReplyDeleteI have to say, I have been saving extra loose change all my life..I think many Americans do! The bank has coin counting machines, so when the jar gets full, I take it to the bank, have it counted, and deposited into my savings account. When my son moved to the UK, he put his coins in a jar, and his then girlfriend said she had never heard of it, and thought it silly!
ReplyDeleteI hope that your New Year will be wonderful! Best wishes for all good things in 2015 to you and yours! Such a great idea about your sealed pot and the upcycling of the yoghurt bucket too! xx
ReplyDeletewe use plastic Quality Street Jars , with a coin sized slit in the lid , Happy new Year to you and your family xx
