Odd combinations!

Hi everyone, and a special welcome to my new follower J Stevens, its great to have another frugal girl on board  thank you for popping by and following my blog, please feel free to comment if you want to :-)

I'm a bit late with my meal plan this week, I know I haven't posted one for a few weeks but I have kept it up and we have stuck to it.

You can read it if you click on it lol
Its half in red pen because that's last weeks, we tend to shop on a Thursday so my meals usually start from Friday  but this week I'm letting it run over and we will eat the same.  Apart from the vegetables and salad everything is from the freezer, still home made of course :-)

Hubby is at his voluntary job today and gets a free lunch so it was left to me to eat up the leftover bits in the fridge for my lunch.  Its a rather unusual combination to say the least,  I had a piece of quiche, the last lump of homemade stuffing from Sunday dinner and there was a couple of spoons of sweetcorn in a tub, to which I added a little chopped cucumber, red onion and a blob of mayo. I warmed the quiche and stuffing to take the chill off, it may have been an odd mixture but actually it was very tasty and filling.

Do you  ever eat odd combinations for lunch to avoid food waste?

  1. Hi Karen thanks for the welcome, the menu planning will be one thing I will be doing, when I have sorted my freezer out, I would also like to batch cook as well, so much to do !

  2. Hello Karen, I arrived here via Froog's blog, and very glad I did too! I've been tinkering with our shopping, re-organising my larder and freezers, and making some frugal meals. I had to laugh reading your recent posts as I was blogging about making faggots and was intrigued as to why the supermarkets call it "cooking bacon" -what on earth do they think we do with the other stuff??

Anyway, to answer your question, that looks like a great plate of food to me! I love a 'picky lunch'.
(And I might add, lucky you to get to see Phil Beer, I'm a fiddle player myself and love to hear him play.)

  3. Hi Karen,

I eat the leftovers as well. I love stuffing anyway so probably not any leftover. I usually have chicken left from a roast and just make it into the same as our sweetcorn mix. I am using old bread for croutons at the moment to have over salads.

  4. We often have a pic,n,mix meal, i just empty the fridge onto the top and everyone picks what they want. Growing up we used to have Friday Pie which used up all the leftovers sometimes it was "interesting" but it was never wasted, any morsel we left went to the chickens or the dog.
