Pickering War Weekend.. October 2015
Hello everyone, well yet another month has passed and nothing posted, it has been on my to do list but just kept getting pushed down to the bottom, well here I am, better late than never!
I have been trying to do a bit of blog reading and hoping to catch up with you all over the next few days, I have really missed you all, thank you so much for leaving lovely comments on my last post xx
The past 6 months I have been so busy with a few family problems and with 2 parents in their 80s needing a fair bit of care, time has just whizzed by and left me with little personal time for blogging etc. I seem to be getting things more organised and into a routine again albeit different from before its working ok.
We did manage a couple of trips away last year, we went to three 1940s weekends, Woodhall Spa, Papplewick and Pickering, they are great fun and its lovely to get a bit dressed up. Hopefully we will be doing the same this year, Woodhall Spa is already booked for July. I had my 60th birthday in November and we left my brother in charge of Mum & Dad and went on a well deserved holiday to our favourite hotel in Cyprus for two whole weeks of bliss, the weather was wonderful, around 30 degrees, lovely for lounging around and being totally looked after and very spoiled. Christmas sort of came and went but we still had a lovely family time together with my youngest son coming up from Plymouth for 5 days it made it more special. We're planning on a visit to see him in March, can't wait!!
Through all the trials and tribulations I have managed to keep going with my weight loss journey, two and a half stone off now and only a couple more pounds to go. Its been a hard slog some weeks with my stress levels maxed out and nothing lost but I was determined to keep going, the benefits have been worth it, I feel so much better in myself as well as looking better for it, now Im trying to improve my fitness levels by doing lots of walking and a bit of jogging on the spot!
Heres a before and after! I was delighted to win the groups Miss Slinky award in December :-) i think you will agree I look much better lol.
Well it's now 3am and I need to try and get some sleep, I have a very busy day tomorrow cooking lunch for 7 plus a further 8 dinners for my parents for during the week, I m getting a dab hand at these Sunday Lunches :-)
Back soon and thank you for popping by.
Love Karen xx

DeleteWell done - always good to hear that people manage to diet despite Life going on around them! I visited Pickering on my honeymoon, it was lovely back in 1979 - hope it still is now!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Angela, its been a tough year, emotionally as well losing the weight. Im in a better place now and hope the healthy eating and excercise will keep me there! Pickering is a really friendly town and the War Weekend is an amazing event. We had tea and s ones in the station buffet and with the steam trains pulling into the platform I felt a bit like Celia Johnson in Brief Encounter lol. I loved it!! X
DeleteWow yes you look fab, great to read from your blog again. Enjoy your Sunday lunch :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Shirley, lovely of you to pop by again. Sunday lunch was a great success, everyone had a lovely meal and we finished with a chocolatey treat.....and a huge pile of dishes!! :-)
DeleteCongratulations on the weight loss, it's never easy and with your real life breaking in, you have done well.
ReplyDeleteThank you Marlene, its been a bit if a roller coaster year, lots of ups and downs, Im hoping this year I will be more able to deal with the problems as they arise. I have learnt over the past year you have to be firm to get what you need especially where the NHS are concerned! Thank you for popping by x
DeleteWow what a transformation, you look great!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on winning miss slinky, it's not easy I have fallen from the Waggon many times, am thinking of rejoining again now.
Thanks Maggie x I was gobsmacked to win Miss Slinky, they said it wasnt just the weight loss that counted but my constant support for other members and inspiring them to cook and eat healthy meals :-) I'm almost at target and then the hard work begins to stay there! Im in it for the long haul. X
DeleteSo hard when our parents get older. You look wonderful, good for you.
ReplyDeleteIt's very hard Janet, its like role reversal with me doing the caring! I feel so protective of them and just want the best for them, I think there will be some hard times ahead! X
DeleteWell done Karen, you look fantastic. I know how hard it has been for you over the last few months; we all kept 'popping by' to see if you were posting, but it is great to see you back! X
ReplyDeleteThank you Alison, Im sure there will be a time when things get even harder with mum but for now things seem pretty settled. Hence my return to blogging :-) x
DeleteGreat to see you again, I thought you had gone for good. looking forward to seeing more of you, even though there is less of you. I am sure that makes sense, just squint a bit and look sideways.
ReplyDeleteThanks Pam, I always wanted to wite a blog post but everything else seemed to take preference and then you just get out of the habit or think you don't have anything interesting to say. Maybe I still don't have anything interesting to say but
DeleteI'll still chunter on :-) x
