Pretty Pink Patchwork

'Last year I started to make this quilt from 2.5 inch strips, it seemed to take me forever and I ended up losing interest in it so it was folded up and put to one side. Months later I thought it ought to be finished, I had already got the batting and the backing fabric so there was no excuse not to get on with it. Once finished it got folded up and put into the airing cupboard, it fell out the other day so I thought I would take a couple of photos to share with you.

I quilted it on the machine into 12inch blocks and was very pleased with how my machine performed.

I had made far too many blocks so rather than put them to one side I made a baby sized one and gave it to my friend, her nephews partner is having a baby girl and .i thought it would come in handy. Its 100% cotton so I know it will wash ok.

The quilt is folded up and back in the cupboard, I intend to use it in the spare bedroom once its been decorated.

Busy day with Mum today, Doctors first thing, he was pleased with her progress on her new meds, then it was a visit to the Opticians to pick up her new glasses. We had yet another visit to the chemist as her Nomad packs of tablets were wrong, Dad thought they had put the wrong tablet in the nighttime section, but when the chemist checked, it was the correct tablet but because it came from a different company the tablet was a different size!! I wish they wouldn't do that, its so confusing!   Home for lunch and then out again with Mum to her therapy session, she absolutely loves these and is always eager to go. I sit in the next room with a coffee while I wait and I can hear them all laughing and singing, it gives me that feel good factor too.

Tonight we have gorgeous grandaughter staying, she's hoping to go flying tomorrow with grandad, weather permitting, if not it could be a baking day.

Thank you for taking time to leave comments yesterday, they are much appreciated.

Back soon
Take care

  1. I identify with the problem with different packages/appearance of medications. Thy confuse me!
Have you enquired about having a dosette for your mum? We had them for my (late) sister. With these the medication is packaged for each medication time rather than as individual items. The pharmacist would make up the dosette for the week and all your dad would have to do would be to open the appropriate section and hand the tablets to mum. Your GP practice should be able to advise

    1. This is what we have, they are called Nomad Packs at our Chemist, its like a card folder with 4 sections for each day, with the appropriate tablets in each section. I organised this about 8 months ago just to make things easier, Dads eyesight isn't very good and struggles to read small print. I think its a brilliant system if only they would stick to the same company for the tablets and not change the colour or size X

  3. DB has that problem as do I on occasions. It does give pause for thought though does it so we always check the box first.

  4. The problem tablet is a long term low dose antibiotic, its caused a problem since it was prescribed, first it can't go in the pack...then it can...then they forgot....then ran out...then wrong size to cause confusion!! I m afraid I lost my cool yesterday. I think I will heed your advice and check everything myself in future. Thank you :-)

  5. More patience than me, I can't even get myself started on a 'normal' quilt of squares.

    1. I think I'm ok patience wise it just time I'm short of especially for big projects, I like having something I can complete in an afternoon or when I manage that 'spare' few hours. X

  7. Beautiful quilt! I totally get the pill thing, at least you have them dosed out, if only we could get our patient to agree to that! Glad that your Mum is doing OK. xx

    1. Thank you Amy. Regarding the tablets, I will probably throw a spanner in the works next month if the Dr decides to put her trial meds on repeat! I'll be banned from the Chemist lol xx

  8. Lovely blog, just found you. I have trouble with the labels, as well as the changes in pills, sometimes here when you get a new manufacturer the "inert" ingredients change which can be a problem for people with allergys.

    1. Hello Joyce, thank you for popping by and leaving me a comment, its nice to have you on board, I hooe you find something of interest in my chunterings:-)
It must be an absolute nightmare for you if you have to keep checking ingredients.
While we were sat in A&E last week, a lady sat next to us had been given the wrong tablets, antidepressants instead if blood pressure ones!! It just goes to show we should always check before taking anything! x

  10. I managed to miss this post, the quilt is great. Rail Fence is a good block to show of pretty fabrics and looks good spread out on the bed.
